“The issues are in the tissues”

The Western approach to medicine is excellent it saves lives, but sometimes it is designed to treat the symptoms and not the cause. Medication on its own may not be  the single answer. Symptoms may re occur or move on to something else. The body is trying to tell you something, but are we truly equipped to listening?

In other cultures Ancient healing approaches are highly revered & well established  and are designed to look at what caused those conditions in the first place. We need  to  learn to listen to the body, to become aware of the causes. This approach is designed to support you with your own healing, working alongside traditional approaches to medicine.

What evidence is there that Ancient Healing is a successful approach

Research which is mainly India & USA based has shown that ancient techniques such as Pranayama do calm the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous system. They can lower blood pressure and enable the body to move to a calmer state

Guided Relaxation, Meditative & Mindfulness Techniques- can reframe (rewire)  the brain & enable you to put a stop button on unwelcome thoughts. The research shows that such techniques can help reduce anxiety, pain and stress. In particular the various  guided relaxation techniques have been shown to help boost the body’s immune system, and help balance the  endocrine & lymphatic systems.

Physical Body Work – Restorative Body work the research shows that used in conjunction with other therapies & techniques this work can help in the treatment of trauma, whether that be body trauma ( physical injury ) or mind trauma.

How long does the treatment take?

The sessions are 1 hour. The sessions are on a one to one basis. Following an initial first assessment which involves a question and answer medical assessment Karen will work alongside you to develop a tailored approach to your self- healing journey. Various techniques will be tried and practiced. Tailored physical work, mindfulness, relaxation and breath work will be recommended and designed for you to practice easily at home. They can be a one off session or part of a longer programme dependent on the condition you want to treat.
